WHY SPORTS MEDICINE DOCTORS?

Seeing a sports medicine doctor is a perfect fit for most patients with acute injury and chronic or re-occurring muscular discomfort and pain.

The hallmark of sports medicine is the ability to accurately and complete a medical exam and diagnosis, diagnose the condition, provide treatment, assess for improvement, and return the patient back to whatever they want to get back to doing…FAST. For this reason, Sports Medicine is a great specialty in medicine that most patients can benefit from.

The same treatment techniques employed for treating and rehabbing a baseball pitcher’s rotator cuff tear can also benefit the stiff and achy rotator cuff of a non-athlete. Utilizing the latest and greatest sport medicine techniques, we at Agape here in Las Vegas are able to help patients whose other techniques have failed. Come to Agape and receive treatment from our Las Vegas sports medicine doctors like professional athletes.

Initial SPORTS MEdICINE Examination:

When you visit our Las Vegas sports medicine doctors, your first visit will include a thorough head-to-toe movement assessment. Our doctors will run neurological and orthopedic tests which will allow them to pinpoint the area of concern and create a specific care plan tailored for your individual needs.

For the examination, please wear clothes that will allow you to move freely. We pride ourselves on finding what others could not, and we accomplish this with our thorough exam. The exam includes palpation (feeling bony landmarks, muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc.), neurological assessments, range of motion testing, orthopedic testing, and laboratory testing/imaging if your case requires it. Many times, there will be some form of functional testing as well. The exam typically takes about an hour. If your specific case is more involved, it may be split between two visits due to the amount of time it may take. At the end of the exam, you will be given a report of findings, meaning you will be given the following: a diagnosis or multiple diagnoses, and a treatment plan. Labs/imaging may also be discussed, or a referral to other healthcare providers may also be provided.

SPORTS MEDICINE Treatment:

Treatments at Agape in Las Vegas depend entirely on what was found during your initial exam. Treatments may include soft tissue treatments such as Active Release Technique, Las Vegas Sports massage, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, dry needling, joint mobilization, joint spine and back adjustments (both low force and traditional), taping, bracing, exercises, stretches, nutritional recommendations, etc. Treatments range from 30 minutes to an hour and are dictated by your specific needs. Some level of soreness is expected post-treatment, however, we do our best to keep it at a minimum. The soreness should feel more like a workout sore versus a bad pain and aftercare instructions will always be provided. We always suggest that you see our Las Vegas chiropractic doctors as soon as possible for quick treatment and recovery.
